The W.S Cox Plate is not only Australia's most renowned test of class, it is also one of the country's best stallion producing races having been won in recent times by the likes of Savabeel, Shamus Award, Ocean Park and So You Think - all highly successful stallions.

State Of Rest looks set to add to that record with his first yearlings proving so popular at the sales, fetching up to $250,000.

Like his sire Starspangledbanner and grandsire Choisir, State Of Rest was a high class globetrotter who raced in six different countries - winning at Gr.1 level in Australia, America, France and England (Royal Ascot).

He was versatile as he was talented, winning from 1200m to 2100m, adept on all sorts of going.

This filly from his debut crop is out of a winning mare by another topliner who showed his talent off around the world - High Chaparral winning big races in England, Ireland and America including the Epsom and Irish Derbies and the Breeders Cup Turf.

An outstanding stallion, he is also doing the job as a broodmare sire with his daughters producing 101 stakes winners - 16 of whom are Gr.1 horses with two of those; California Spangle (the highest earner out of a High Chaparral mare) and The Wow Signal being by State Of Rest's sire Starspangledbanner.

This Choisir/Sadler's Wells cross has always worked exceptionally well - 11 Gr.1 winners amongst the 59 stakes winners bred this way.

And this filly has another successful cross at work with Choisir and High Hostess' superstar dam sire Zabeel combining in 15 stakes winners including the Gr.1 winners Prowess, Pier and Beauty Eternal.

Already dam of the two time winner Laser's Fury and the promising Somethingintheair who is close to breakthrough, High Hostess is one of the six winners for the stakes placed Zabeel mare Abeel Hostess whose city winning daughter Hot Stash is dam of the stakes winner Helena Baby.

Abeel Hostess is one of the seven winners for the Gr.2 Magic Night Stakes winner Fickle Hostess whose very fast dam Vaindarra (also dam of the triple Gr.3 winner Zabarra) won the Gr.2 Silver Slipper Stakes, the Gr.3 Gimcrack Stakes and the Gr.3 Reisling Stakes - proving herself one of her year's best two-year-olds with a game second to Marscay in the Gr.1 Golden Slipper Stakes.

This filly's pedigree is an exciting one with crosses of the speed influences Vain and Lunchtime as well as a 6 X 5 X 6 cross of Special. One of the great modern day line-breeding forces, she appears twice via Nureyev and once via his 3/4 brother Sadler's Wells.

There is background strength to this pedigree as well - duplications of the influential mares Oceana, Canterbury Pilgrim, Aloe, Simon's Shoes, Rose O'Lynn, Woodbine, Selene, Mumtaz Mahal, Frizette, Tara and Canary Bird (ancestress of Starspangledbanner and High Hostess).
