Rosemont Stud’s SHAMUS AWARD has shot to fame as a sire of serious stayers and classic horses. When we found this outstanding colt at the Inglis Premier Sale we were determined to bring him to Clayton Douglas Racing as a derby & cups prospect.

The Champion 3YO of his generation as a Cox Plate and Australian Guineas winner, the rise of Shamus Award as a sire has also been nothing short of phenomenal. With 21 individual Stakes Winners and 37 stakes wins, the impressive list of Group 1 winners include MR QUICKIE (Queensland Derby & Toorak Handicap), MEDIA AWARD (SAJC Schweppes Oaks), EL PATRONESS (ATC Australian Oaks), INCENTIVISE (Turnbull Stakes, Caulfield Cup, Makybe Diva Stakes) & DUAIS (Queensland Oaks, Australian Cup, Tancred Stakes).

His versatility to produce sprinters of the highest class through to Group 1 performers at a mile & beyond is a rare and unique ability for any sire.

On the other side of this pedigree sits another Group 1 performer in FIORENTE, winner of both the G1 Melbourne Cup & Australian Cup.  Fiorente’s versatility on the track saw him place in group races from 1400m up, & finished 3^rd behind Shamus Award in his 2013 Cox Plate win. His 8 individual stakes winners include LUNAR FLARE, LIQUEURO, STARS OF CARRUM, HAWKSHOT, POWER SCHEME, COUSIN IVAN, BARONOVA & MOOR GAIT

Fiorente’s sire, MONSUN, was also a breed shaping stallion in Germany producing 22 individual Group 1 winners, including Melbourne Cup winners FIORENTE, PROTECTIONIST & ALMANDIN.
