Giga Kick wins the Danehill Stakes (G2)

It was a day to remember for Clayton Douglas and his team when Giga Kick bravely held on to win the Danehill Stakes at Flemington.

The Group 2 win was the first for Douglas as a trainer and see’s the son of Scissor Kick remaining unbeaten from 4
starts.

The 3yr old gelding will now be aimed for the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes in 4 weeks where he’s now 3rd line of betting.

Douglas gave up his dual license just over 12 months ago and has since focused on growing his Mornington stable.

Winning jockey Craig Williams was full of praise for the young trainer

"He's a great young man as a person in general but what a great horseman with an amazing story in racing," Williams said.

"He had to go through being heavy (jockey), go through the picnics program to being a jumping jockey, to being a really competitive flat jockey and will be one of our top trainers.

"To train this horse to race to still remain undefeated and you can with his continuation and the pre-parade report to say how much he's come on and my job is pretty easy actually.”

Congratulations to owners, Pinecliff Racing, and a great team at home.
