Final Moment continued her impressive progression with a determined victory at Sandown on Saturday, taking out the $130,000 Drummond Golf Handicap over 1000m.

The Clayton Douglas-trained mare settled just off the speed under champion jockey Craig Williams before being produced at the right time. She responded strongly in the straight, finding plenty under Williams' urgings to score by 1¼ lengths.

The win takes Final Moment's record to three victories from 12 starts, with prizemoney now reaching $193,000.

Her recent form on wet tracks has been particularly encouraging. She returned to the winner's list at Sandown after winning a Benchmark 64 over 1000m at the same track in July, where Japanese jockey Akira Sugawara recorded his first Australian victory aboard her.  Unfortunately Akira was unable to take today's ride after being injured at Caulfield jumpouts earlier in the week.

The daughter of Hanseatic was purchased by Clayton Douglas for $60,000 from the Rosemont Stud draft at the 2024 Inglis Premier Sale. She is the first foal from Lonhgoal, a daughter of champion sire Lonhro, with her full sister, the unraced Fly Baby, also trained by the stable.

With three wins already on the board and her form continuing to build, Final Moment is proving to be an exciting mare for the Mornington stable with plenty more to look forward to.
